Article : Fuel As Passion...
How many of you know how to play a musical instrument? And how many of you are still playing? Let me make an assumption. I would say only a handful of 10% of you still play the musical instrument after you've started working and got a family. At least 90% of my friends are in that statistics.
The funny thing is most of them still have a little piece of their dream/passion stucked somewhere between their heart and brains. On one side, there's still the 'concept' of becoming a rockstar and make a living out of doing something they loved. On the other spectrum, there's the 'been there, done that, can't make enough money' group which has a more realistic view in life.
I'm not saying that you can't make a living through music, but its more of what the musicians went through and saw. Imagine that Mr A spends 80% of his time practising and jamming during his teenage years (being a teenager, you don't worry about buying a car or going for fancy dinners), spend 80% of his pocket money on jam studio fees, equipments, accessories, gigs, band merchandise and lets say he spent 5 years doing so. At the same time, his friend, Mr B, got a job, some got promoted within that time frame and Mr A is still playing music at payless gigs, without a line of merchandise to sell and trying to write and sell music for the local market.
Now, in movies and the rockstar dream, usually the musician will hit his big break and make millions and doing awesome tours around the world. How many of us actually make it? Especially in Malaysia. Of course we have celebrities like Amy Search, Hillary Ang, Datin Siti, Awie , Sudirman ,Ajai, M. Nasir and so on, but try taking that and versus the number of rockstar wannabes.....
It's demotivating when we put things into perspective, but it's the truth and everyone knows it including the musicians. There will be a point where majority of the grown up musicians will submit to the ugly truth and move on with their lifes. When this happens, it's like having your dreams shattered by an unseen force. The dissapointment will be doubled because there's no one to blame except yourselves.
Though the dream seems far fetched, having a dream is never a bad thing. And for us, we have a number of role models to look up to for inspiration and it gives us hope that it's achievable.
The most important ingredient to be a musician is passion because passion don't need food or money to survive, just someone who believes in it and passion will be the fuel needed to reach the stars.... with a little luck and a lot of talent.
Don't stop believing in your dreams and make sure passion is your best friend in this journey...

Paramore "a manufactured product of a major label," - Zac Farro
"Hayley's father ... would constantly threaten to 'pull the plug' on the whole band if we complained about anything, suggesting that we were hired guns and Hayley was the real artist, when in reality we were also part of the band. We've always been treated as less important than Hayley. It's been obvious how her family views things."
"Hayley claimed that this record reunited us as band and made us grow closer together, when in reality we were all growing further apart," he writes. "Suddenly the band had spilt into two sides. Touring became more difficult since we couldn't agree on anything. The friendships our band once had were no longer existent."
Via http://www.mtv.com
I guess it sucks to be in a band like this anyway right?? well, we wish that all parties from Paramore have a bright future in this music industry... The Farro brothers can always form a new band... and Hayley can always be the 'rock star' she's meant to be... :D

Rudra's Upcoming Video and New Album
"We are currently preparing for the shooting of our first professional music video for the upcoming 'yet-to-be-titled' album. This epic video will be for a track titled 'Hymns From The Blazing Chariot', directed by Jacen Tan.
"We are working with Hosaywood & Apsara Asia Pte Ltd. It will be filmed over a period of two months, using some cool 'green-screen' effects. The concept is based on the ancient battle of Kurukshetra, focusing on the dialogue between two warriors, Arjuna and Krishna. The first shoot will take place this weekend and all of us are looking forward to it."
RUDRA's forthcoming album is the second instalment to the 'Brahmavidya'trilogy. Joshua and Sean of Black Isle Studios mixed the CD, which was mastered by Alan Douches (who has worked on NILE, MASTODON andSEPULTURA albums). An early 2009 release via Trinity Records is expected.
RUDRA last year inked a six-album deal with Hong Kong's Trinity Records. The group's first release for the label was a reissue of their fourth album,"Brahmavidya: Primordial I" (the first part of a triology), which originally came out in 2005.
RUDRA in 2006 severed ties with Demonzend Records (a.k.a. Demonzend Enterprise), the label that originally issued the group's last album,"Brahmavidya: Primordial I", and re-released their debut CD.
Darkest Hour new album updates..
Commented guitarist Mike Schleibaum: "DARKEST HOUR is hard at work now writing and recording demos that will soon birth our follow up to'Deliver Us'. The DARKEST HOUR sound is evolving once again — it will have all the melody, guitar wizardry, and overall epicness that one has come to expect form a great DARKEST HOUR record but this time that sound will be married with something much darker and sinister.
"We are taking extra time to craft every song and make sure each one is a balls the walls jammer! McTernan is pushing us extra hard to ensure that when these songs make it to you ears they start bleeding!
"We live in dark times and the world needs a soundtrack for them."
DARKEST HOUR will take a break from working on the next album to play a few select dates later this month. Joining the band on the outing will be THE RED CHORD, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, SKELETONWITCH andROSE FUNERAL.
The details are as follows:
Dec. 18 - Wilmington, NC - The Soapbox (no THE RED CHORD)
Dec. 19 - Philadelphia, PA - The Church
Dec. 20 - Pompton Lakes, NJ - Mainstage
Dec. 21 - Washington, D.C. - 9:30 Club
Regarding the band's collaboration with producer Brian McTernan, Mike Schleibaum previously said, "We are excited to work with Brian again. He has been a longtime friend and supporter of the band ever since its very first shows in 1995. When we recorded 'Mark of the Judas' with him in 2000, it helped solidify our sound and define us as a band. Eight years later, it's time to do it again. With all the scars of our past to guide us, we look towards a new future."
Look for a DARKEST HOUR European headlining tour in January.
DARKEST HOUR recently parted ways with guitarist Kris Norris and replaced him with Houston's Mike "Lonestar" Carrigan, who filled in forKris during the Thrash and Burn tour.
DARKEST HOUR's latest album, "Deliver Us", was released in July 2007 viaVictory Records. The follow-up to 2005's "Undoing Ruin" was recorded at the Warehouse in Vancouver, Canada.

Deathstars has a new song called "Death Dies Hard"
Commented guitarist, songwriter and producer Emil "Nightmare Industries" Nödtveidt: "This album is the very mirror of our last years and our struggle through this time up until now. It deals with a whole spectrum of emotions, but without losing that straightforward nerve of raw dark feverish rock music a la DEATHSTARS. Even though the songs vary more now, from the ripping 'Night Electric Night' to the seriousness in 'Via the End', which I wrote the very night I found out about my brother's suicide [Emil's brother was DISSECTION frontman Jon Nödtveidt — Ed.], it holds an honest consequence right through the album."
According to a press release, "Night Electric Night" is about DEATHSTARS' "lives and their experiences, their personal issues and the action/horror drama which represents the manic environment that the band exists within. It deals a lot with reflections of situations right then and there."

GUNS N' ROSES' new album, "Chinese Democracy" Updates
Finland: #1
Ireland: #3
Netherlands: #4
Sweden: #4
Early U.S. sales reports suggest that "Chinese Democracy", which was released through an exclusive deal with the Best Buy chain, might not be the blockbuster the industry had hoped for, according to The New York Times. Sales figures will not be available until next week, but early estimates put the first-week total at 300,000 copies (including a reported 25,000 downloads at iTunes on November 23 not counted towards the opening week for the Sunday release) — roughly 50,000 more than the opening number registered by "Contraband", the 2004 debut from VELVET REVOLVER, which features in its ranks Rose's former GUNS N' ROSESbandmates Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum. KANYE WEST's new album, "808s and Heartbreak", will be No. 1 on next week's Billboard chart with a total that looks to be between 450,000 and 500,000.
